A quick and easy alternative would be to wrap/seal the cupcake in plastic
wrap and then use expanding foam to seal it in the box for shipment, but
probably better to manufacture two halves of foam form fitting padding so
they recipient can actually get it out without destroying or contaminating
the cupcake.  Suspension would still be possible if you used a relatively
small box for the form.
