Yes, HOAs or Covenants. They aren't quite the same thing, and sometimes they aren't always voluntary. Often there is a single sheet of paper about it slipped in with the rest of the stuff you sign when you buy a house. I've had a few friends buy houses where they were not aware of the existence of the covenant until they were at the table signing the papers.

If it's a voluntary one (which I was surprised to see actually exist and we have some here) then following the rules is optional if you don't volunteer to be a member (meaning sign a legal agreement and pay dues). It doesn't sound like this is the case, but I wanted to mention it.

This new neighbor found out that I work for the police department, so he plans to start his complaints with me. I can't move the Midget into the garage, so it has to go. If there is still interest in a Makers Local Lemons/Chump Car racer, I will donate the Midget and take it to the shop. If there isn't enough interest, I'll sell it to someone in one of my car clubs.

If and when I have free time again, I'm sure I can weasel some input out of him on things we could do to get/keep the engine running as strong as possible.

There are fun cars that don't take themselves seriously, and there are race cars with serious drivers that take advantage of the rules to drive fast, expensive cars. There are loopholes in the $500 limit that allow drivers to race BMWs and Porsches that look like they should be in a professional event. However, if a team is racing for fun and not upset by winners in $10,000 cars, it could be a total blast.

>>>>>>>>>> If any of you are serious enough about a Maker Racing Team to put some work into it, we could race next season, and maybe even get some autocross runs in it this season. Lemons requires a minimum of four drivers, and a pit crew would be needed. I'll be one driver, so we need at least three more. I believe six drivers is the max.
