Stephan,

I don't get the surfboard reference.
This guy mounts them on a board, along with a little bit of glue logic, 
and sells them via Paypal and through this vendor:

He makes another one so you get to choose which IMU you want to play 
with.  $36 plus $2.50 shipping.

I had to buy them direct from Kris as the Tindie website didn't work for me.
Oh, and for tech support he referred me to the Bosch documentation. :)
The boards appear to be of good quality.
