[ML-General] 3D Printing

Afaik that thing is proprietary and I haven't seen much about hacking it to take custom firmware. Seems like there is a group of guys out there working on it though

If it's anything like some other printers it has an SD card hiding somewhere. My da-Vinci has it inside the case and needs a slot cut out to access it. Printers with embedded SD slots usually take .gcode files with custom headers. So you can slice in whatever you want as long as you insert the header that the machine is looking for.

Do some searching. Looks to be a decent community out there for it.

I know you didn't ask for this opinion but I'll offer it anyway (apologies in advance):
That printer is very over priced for its print area and print material. If it's within return period I'd do so and invest in a printerbot simple metal ($600) for better specs than the Dremel or ask the group. I'm fond of my $500 da Vinci by xyz printing. If you or your friend is stuck with the Dremel than definitely keep an eye out for custom firmware.

They were interested in Simple3D mostly because of its method to create Raft and Supports/Skirt and Supports for objects. I asked them to print me a complicated object and I have gotten hell for it ever since. They have some Dremel 3D printer that I just looked up.
