[ML-General] linux dual boot win 8.1?

Hey y'all. I've been out of the dual boot world for at least 4 years. I
have a new laptop (lenovo) with windows 8.1, touch screen, etc.

I want to do a dual boot with linux - installing mint from a usb thumb
drive. I don't want to do the live usb thing because I want to do dev work
on it and if it dies...I die.

Has anyone done this recently that wouldn't mind letting me email them if I
get stuck?
