Hello Makers!

I'm the director of a local non profit that puts on the Destination
Imagination program in Alabama which is geared toward teaching K-12 kids
skills in problem solving through project-based learning opportunities. We
incorporate traditional STEM subjects into each of our 7 challenges as well
as integrating a strong appreciation for the arts since we believe that is
important in building well-rounded thinkers. While not all of our
challenges are focused on technical aspects, most of them require the kids
to design and create some kind of technical element. You can read more
about the DI at http://www.destinationimagination.org

We're currently finishing up our season at the local level, but I'm trying
to look forward into the next year for opportunities that we can provide
our students beyond the basic DI program. One area that I'd like to focus
on is putting together a series of "Skills Workshops" that focus on
different subject areas relevant to DI's challenges.

Is this something that some of your members would be interested in helping
with? Of course, we would need to work out many details, but, right now,
I'm thinking about a format where we have various stations teaching skills
such as acting, electronics, woodworking, etc. Teams would stay at each
station for a set time, say 45 minutes, and then rotate through the various
stations.

The event would be sometime late in the fall so there's plenty of time to
work out the details. I'd just like to get an idea of different groups or
organizations that would be willing to help out and what it would cost for
an all-day event like this.

Let me know if this is something your members would be interested in.

Thanks
