You might consider either a dev board or an old android phone with an adapter. I just checked, and it looks like people where able to get some of the softphones running on a beaglebone. Both of those should be pretty cheap. Alternatively, for $2,000.00 you could buy a full PC with a studio level audio card.

I'm looking for a four-wire audio to SIP interface. Just a box with an ethernet port and a line level audio input and output. Similar to an analog to IP telephone adapter box. Does anyone know where I can buy one for less than $2,000? I'm not willing to spend that much money. I bought a Cisco phone adapter to hack, but the firmware is so bad I can't even set the IP address on it.
