I am also planning and currently expediting parts for my similar (almost identical project) RC mower. If you didn't know already head over to BAM or B&N and get the current version of Make magazine as there is one on the cover and the build is from another guy in the Birmingham area. Also as you well know there are lots of builds on youtube. I myself have two of these that 500 watt Izip/Currie/clone electric scooter wheel and motor assemblies that I want to use on my own. I'd love to go with the sidewinder but at $400 its a little steep. Hope to try it out with dimension engineering's Sabertooth dual 25A motor driver so I can do tank like steering and was wondering what your though process was for selecting your current controller (pun intended)... Here are my drive motors: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemVersion&item=190321100708&view=all&tid=439058809009 Hope to build the chassis with wood and deck screws and an old gas push mower then get to the final design that will be built with metal and a 24v electric motor setup. I hope to use two interstate deep cycle batteries and later would love to integrate an arudino to either completely replace the RC or just augment autonomous function of the mower inside a dog fence.
