do space-related work to help out with some space education of some 8th

Hello,

I am sending this message out to folks that I talked with at the last HAL5
meeting two weeks ago and a few other space folks that may be interested
regarding an opportunity for helping out with some space education for a
group of 8th graders at the Christa McAuliffe Regional School in Framingham,
MA.  In honor of Christa McAuliffe and the rest of the crew of the
Challenger who perished nearly 25 years ago, teacher Dan Anderson is doing a
project with a group of 8th graders to learn as much as they can about
cutting edge things going on today in the space business.  As part of that,
the students want to interview professionals in the space business about the
cutting edge things they do.  After these interviews, the students will give
presentations on January 27 at Framingham State College.

The interviews are scheduled to be next week, availabilities being Dec 20
through the 23rd.  If anyone is interested in participating, please reply to
myself and Dan Anderson so that logistics can be set up.  These interviews
would be short through teleconference, videoconference or Skype.  This is a
great opportunity to help keep kids excited about math, science and
engineering;  a very worthy cause.  I hope that many of you will be able to
take the time to help out.  Please read below and look at the attachments
for more details.  Of course, if you see the schedule below, I have already
fumbled a little bit, I have been incredibly busy these last few weeks.
That shouldn’t matter though, they are still looking for people to talk
with.

Dear David,

It was great to connect with you today.  I appreciate any time and the
effort you put in to assist me on this quest for experts.  It is also
awesome that you yourself are so willing to work with kids.  I would be so
honored to have you be part of this project if you can fit it in your
schedule.  I know your busy so I totally understand if you can't.  If you
can forward any information in this e-mail to anyone you know who can help
please do so. I have attached a document that summarizes this project and
describes how experts can specifically help us out.  This document should
clarify some questions you may still have about what this space
investigation is all about.

The kids are just doing some background research work about space science
and new discoveries. The focus is quite vast and does not need to be only on
the Moon or the planets.

The time involvement for the scientist, as it has been explained to me is
for a 30 minutes web/telecon interview where kids would have prepared
questions to ask the scientist, and then another follow up interview of
roughly the same amount of time.

Please let the experts and researchers know that they personally can come to
this special event that is in Christa McAuliffe's honor.  It will take place
on January 27th 2010 at Framingham State College in Framingham, MA.  The

They do not have to come to this presentation to help us out but I wanted to
personally invite any expert or researcher who agrees to help us out.  They
might like to see and meet the students present their research.

Here are some important dates that I need to meet:

December 10th: I need all participating researchers and experts confirmed as
much as possible.

December 16th, and 20th-23rd: Dates of the first contact/interview with the
expert or researcher

Jan. 3rd to the 7th: Dates of the second possible follow up
contact/interview with the expert or researcher
