[ML-General] 3D Printing

I have to admit that I do not participate in 3D printing as much as I
should right now but I had someone ask me about Simple3D.  They were
interested in Simple3D mostly because of its method to create Raft and
Supports/Skirt and Supports for objects.  I asked them to print me a
complicated object and I have gotten hell for it ever since.  They have
some Dremel 3D printer that I just looked up.

I asked them for the model number, but I do not have it yet.  Is this a
clone of another popular printer that everyone uses or is it proprietary?

What is the go to software to control these things in this current day?
They guy does not have much familiarity with Linux if that counts.
