Hello,

Green Makers will be holding a second intro meeting to introduce new
members and to present and discuss some project ideas (see PS). We will be
meeting at the Makers Local 256 <https://256.makerslocal.org/> Shop (203
Brown St. Huntsville, AL 35805). Just look for the brown warehouse with the
white rollup door. Knock on the side door and someone will let you in.

                                     - Ethan

P.S.
I've been doing some research and have some ideas for projects/project
direction:

   - Efficiency Project
This project is to work on improving the shop's efficiency by assessing
the shop's energy consumption, finding and stopping energy losses, and
   building and installing energy-efficient equipment:
      - Energy consumption - Build and install an Arduino power
monitor<http://www.antitronics.com/?p=26>(from Steve
      Conklin <http://www.illruminations.com/post/125529397/practical-arts>of
      antitronics <http://www.antitronics.com/>). Measure power consumption
and find where cuts can be made.
      - Stopping energy losses - Seal off air leaks and other heat losses
      from building, automate the
lights<http://www.diynetwork.com/how-to/how-to-install-a-motion-sensor-light-switch/index.html>
      .
      - Energy-Efficient Equipment - Build and install low-power LED lights
that fit into standard 120V screw
sockets<http://www.instructables.com/id/COMPACT-LED-LIGHT/>and
fluorescent
      tube sockets<http://www.instructables.com/id/LED-Replacement-Fluorescent-Tube/>.
(For the summer) Modify the current shop A/C to use evaporative
      cooling<http://www.instructables.com/id/Building_a_DIY_Evaporative_Air_Conditioner/>
      .

   - Solar Energy Project
This project is to build a small 24V PV battery charger to get experience
with solar systems and learn about how they work. It is split into several
   parts:
      - Experiment with some small-scale DIY solar panel
construction<http://www.mdpub.com/SolarPanel/index.html><- Have
started learning about soldering together PV cells.
      - Build a solar tracker<http://www.instructables.com/id/Solar_PV_tracker/>
      .
      - Build a charge controller<http://www.solorb.com/elect/solarcirc/scc2/>
      .
