Note,
Holding a build session at 6pm tonight at the shop. We will break for
the meeting. I would like to bring up the following:
- Flight Readiness - Here's what I see needs doing before we can fly:
1. Camera & Tracker
- Must pass a freeze test for battery life & functionality in cold
temperatures (a freezer may be sufficient since the hot hands
and cooler
ought to be sufficient to prevent temperatures from falling
below freezer
temperatures).
- Done for cell phone, lasted 3 hours in direct freeze (gives a
half-hour of margin for a 2.5 hour flight, need to
increase to 1 hour of
margin). Need to test camera.
- Cam & Tracker need to be integrated and a simulated landing and
recovery test done.
2. Payload Cooler modified to fit camera and tracker, recovery
system painted, drop test with full payload.
- Cut camera holes and put padding to retain hardware
- Paint it and the parachutes bright international orange for
visibility.
- Drop test from a higher altitude to ensure recovery works -
Repair crack in cooler.
3. Helium & balloons
- Have balloons arriving on Friday, still need to sort out helium.
4. Planning
- Need to determine flight path and notify locals on landing site
that we are coming. Also, put placards on balloon to let
them know who to
call when they find it.
- Scheduling - Are we able to get all the above done before Friday this
week?
- $$$ - How are we sharing the costs of three flights?
- Future flight upgrades - How are we going to further increase the score
on our missions?
