Ultimately the plan is to finish the kiln controller so pots can be candled in the kiln. Ceramic is food safe. Some kinds of glazes outgas toxic fumes at temps that the oven cannot reach so drying glazes should be fine too. We have multiple means of reflow work without the need of a kitchen oven, so I'll put up signs to the effect of "Nontoxic Heating Only" for the oven.

Ah I gotcha, I remember Phil talking about it a little bit but I was unsure if there were other ways to do without an oven. I kinda imagine it like baking sculpy so I assume yes.

Pottery was being put in the oven for "candling". Driving out excess moisture so air bubbles would not cause the pottery to explode in the kiln. As far as I know, there is nothing toxic involved or put out during candling, and see no issue with it happening in the oven. Someone with a bit more knowledge on the subject might correct me though.

I'm pretty down with this hot plate idea Tahirih had, since then toxic items can happen. However, what's the plan gonna be for the whole pottery business? Why were they in the oven?

I agree with greg on this one. Best judgement. Don't bake anything toxic, and all should be well

No,

That is what I thought.

I was just following the traffic and wanted to make the recommendation.

The only reason I ask, can you not have two ovens? One for food, the other one for projects.

I just was wondering.

I agree, I'd *really* like to see this oven stay a
            food-only oven.

We have a new stove at the shop! There are
some pots and pans in the drawer underneath
it. The stove top is made of glass so please
do not cut on it or use anything abrasive to
clean it. Also be careful about dropping
anything or banging pots and pans on it.
