Be aware that your new laptop almost certainly boots using UEFI, which is
different from the legacy BIOS method. Mint appears to be set up to handle
UEFI, but I would read about it first.

Have you considered using virtualization? VMware or virtualbox will save
you from the headaches of dual booting.

Benefits of virtualization:
Snapshots
No reboot necessary
Won't render your system unbootable
No need to resize partitions
It's cool
Etc.
