Hello Everyone,
You've peaked my interest! I am the lady who attended the open house on
binary day that makes cakes. This is easier than you think...at least for
me. I have successfully had a cake make it to Virginia, but it was hand
carried in a cooler.
Basically you need a bottom heavy cupcake (dense cake) with a foil liner or
perhaps silicone (stuff cupcake is baked in). The frosting needs to be
shortening based and can be covered in fondant to seal it I have a great
frosting recipe. It can also be frosted in ganace which will be rock solid
if frozen but to die for when eaten. You can make a plastic vacuumed
formed tray for the cupcake.
To ship you need to freeze first and then ship it in the box in a box
method where the inner box is a syrofoam container that has dry ice in it.
You could put styrofoam peanuts in the styrofoam container. The cupcake
will be frozen solid and will not mess up. There just needs to be enough
dry ice to keep it rock solid.
What you need to worry about is a winning theme for the cupcake and I can
make it or show you how. Maybe the theme could be steam-punk or something
like that. I would make as small of a cupcake as you can. What is the
deadline?

**"Those who want to work for change will always be opposed. Each time a
person stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or
strikes out against, they send forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing
each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those
ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of
oppression and resistance!" Robert F. Kennedy
